Hypnosis is recognized by both the American Medical Association and the American Psychological Association and has been proven effective in countless studies for its ability to create sudden and lasting change.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will I Remember?
During the first session, it’s not uncommon for people to stay in the lighter level of hypnosis known as Alpha. If you remain in the lighter alpha brain wave level, you will consciously be aware of what is being said and will most likely remember the entire session. Many people drift in and out of the light Alpha and deeper Theta levels of consciousness during hypnosis. As you drift in and out of these levels, you will be less likely to focus on the sound of the hypnotist’s voice causing your memory of the session to be spotty. No matter the level of hypnosis, the subconscious mind is always awake and listening.
Will I Lose Control?
No one can be hypnotized to do anything they do not want to do. The subconscious mind will not accept suggestions that go against your desires, morals, or beliefs. Maybe you’ve seen a stage hypnosis show where the hypnotist made people do silly things such as bark like a dog or act like a chicken. The hypnosis techniques used by a clinical hypnotist such as myself, are different from the techniques used for entertainment purposes. During your hypnosis session, you will not be instructed to do anything that will embarrass or humiliate you.
Will I Tell My Secrets
No one wants to blurt out their secrets unwillingly. Hypnosis is not a truth serum; it cannot be used to find the truth, or make a person tell the truth. Anyone can lie while under hypnosis just as easily as they can lie in a normal state of consciousness. You always retain full control over what you say. A person in the hypnotic state reveals no secrets that they would not tell in the waking state. Your secrets are yours to keep.
What If I Can’t Wakeup?
You cannot get stuck. Even if you went into the deepest levels of hypnosis and something was to happen that required your attention. You would be able to awaken just as quickly as if you were at home in your bed. When your session is over your hypnotist will give you direction, and you will quickly open your eyes and be wide awake feeling alert and refreshed.
Are There Any Side Effects
In addition to changing, improving, or eliminating the unwanted behavior pattern, you may notice some other very positive side effects. Most people find that they feel better upon awakening with a better attitude and more energy. Hypnosis sessions almost always contain suggestion and affirmations to eliminate stress and boost self-confidence; as a result, you may begin to develop a more positive and happier outlook on life.
